The interviewer asks

Tell me about a discrepancy you found during a reconciliation.

The answer
A supplier balance did not match the statement at month end. I traced the difference to an invoice entered twice under slightly different references. I confirmed it with the invoice owner, followed our correction approval process and added a duplicate-reference check to the reconciliation notes.

Before you start

How to prepare your examples and get the most from your practice.

How should I prepare for this interview?
Prepare an error you caught, a deadline you managed and a process you improved. Explain your checks and approvals without sharing confidential figures.
Will these questions come up in my interview?
These are original practice examples covering useful themes for this role. Your employer will choose its own questions. Match your preparation to the job description and the interview invitation.
Can I use examples from study or volunteering?
Yes. Pick a real situation where you made a decision, helped someone or solved a problem. Explain your own contribution and be clear about the setting.
Should I memorise the example answer?
Use it to understand the structure, then practise with your own experience. A story you know well is easier to adapt when the interviewer asks a follow-up.
How does spoken practice help?
Saying an answer out loud reveals the details you skip and the parts that run on. Bossed gives feedback so you can improve one part and try again.
