Make the answer clear to every panel member

A panel may bring together people interested in different parts of your work. Start with the shared context, explain your choice plainly and add technical detail when asked. If two questions arrive together, acknowledge both and say which you will take first.

  • Find out the panel members’ roles if they are included in your invitation.
  • Prepare one project from several angles: delivery, collaboration and judgement.
  • Direct your first sentence to the person who asked, then include the other listeners naturally.

Prepare an answer you can explain from several angles

Bossed helps you rehearse spoken answers about your experience and respond to follow-up questions. Use that practice to make your reasoning clear to someone who does not know your work. For the panel itself, also prepare how you will address each person and handle two questions arriving together.

Try it now

Practise one answer, then a follow-up

How would you balance a customer request with a delivery deadline?

  1. Jot down the main point, the example you will use and the result you want to explain.
  2. Record your answer out loud. Listen for anything a person unfamiliar with your work would struggle to follow.
  3. Answer again with that part made clearer. Then ask yourself: “How would you explain that decision to the customer and to your team?”

Put your answer to the test with Bossed. Rehearse out loud and get specific feedback with a paid plan. Build my interview prep plan → Your readiness quiz and prep plan are free.

Questions about your practice

Should I memorise my answers?
Use a few notes to remember the example, then explain it in your own words. Practise answering a follow-up so you can adapt when the interviewer asks for more detail.
How does Bossed help me prepare?
Bossed uses your CV and the job description to run a spoken mock interview, with follow-up questions based on your answers. Afterwards, you get session feedback to help you decide what to improve. The quiz and preparation plan are free; spoken interviews require a paid plan.

Be ready to explain what you can do.
