Free interview practice: useful ways to start today

You can start improving an interview answer with a question and your phone recorder. Try these free approaches, then decide whether you want help asking follow-ups and reviewing your answers.

Start with a method you can use today

For a first rehearsal, use your phone recorder or ask someone to practise with you. If you choose a tool with a free plan, check how many sessions are included. If you are a student or graduate, your careers service may also offer mock interviews or access to practice software.

Phone recorder: a free starting point

A recorder you already have lets you practise without a subscription. Read a question, record your answer and listen for the main point, your action and the result. You will need to review the content yourself or ask someone for feedback.

A practice partner: a real conversation

Ask a friend, colleague or careers adviser to run a short mock. Give them the vacancy and three questions, and ask for specific feedback. Agree a time and focus so the session stays useful. Access to careers services depends on your institution.

Yoodli: communication roleplay

Yoodli offers roleplay and recorded speaking feedback. Consider it when delivery and communication are your main practice goals. Check the current individual session limits and data settings.
