Make the rehearsal resemble your next interview
Start with the job description and pick the three responsibilities you will need to explain. A useful simulation asks for evidence, follows up on your decisions and gives you room to think. Reading a list of questions is a starting point; saying your answers is where you discover what needs work.
- Choose an opening question, an example from your experience and a question about a difficult decision.
- Answer each once without restarting. Keep going when a sentence comes out awkwardly.
- Review the content first: did you answer the question, explain your contribution and reach an outcome?
Practise what happens after the first answer
Bossed asks questions about your experience and follows up on what you say. You practise choosing an example, explaining a decision and keeping the conversation moving. After the session, your feedback gives you something specific to improve before you try again.

Practise one answer, then a follow-up
Tell me about a decision you made with incomplete information.
- Jot down the main point, the example you will use and the result you want to explain.
- Record your answer out loud. Listen for anything a person unfamiliar with your work would struggle to follow.
- Answer again with that part made clearer. Then ask yourself: “What information would have changed your decision?”
