Three panel members, one interview. Say every essay out loud before they ask about it.
The season in numbers
Know what to change before the real interview
See where your answer lost its point, what was missing and what to try next. Your own words, with feedback on each question and scores across four skills.
A promise to network, with no example that proves you already do.
“I’m a very sociable person, and I would definitely connect with other scholars in the UK…”
Give one relationship you built, what came of it, and who you’ll build the next one with.
-
“How will you use your Chevening network when you return?”
Warm but general. Name the group at home you’d bring scholars into.
-
“Tell me about a time you led a group through a difficult situation.”
Strong story and a clear result. It ran long; cut the background.
-
“Why the UK, and why these three courses?”
First two courses clear. The third sounded like a back-up; say why it fits.
Illustrative example. Your scores will differ.
“My career plan jumped from the degree to a very big goal. Practising made me explain the first steps I would take when I got home.”
One question, and what a strong answer does
An example of the kind of question you’ll be asked, and what the feedback looks for.
“Your networking essay mentions a professional association. What have you personally built inside it?”
Follow-up: “And how would you keep that link alive once you are back from the UK?”
What a strong answer does
- Names one relationship or initiative and the part you played in it.
- Shows a result: a project, a partnership, people who came because of you.
- Links it to a named group or community you plan to join in the UK.
- Answers the follow-up with a plan for after the course, not only during it.
What it costs
Spoken interview sessions on either plan, up to two hours of interviews a day.
Spoken interview sessions, up to two hours of interviews a day
A week of focused preparation when your interview is just days away.
Need more than a week? Two weekly payments total $25.98. From three weeks on, the monthly plan costs less.
Cancel at any time in Settings, with no cancellation fee. You keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
Before you ask
English is my second language. Will that count against me?
Your answer is transcribed, and your feedback quotes what it heard, word for word, so you can check it. The scoring is set up not to mark down accent or grammar slips.
Will it know my essays?
Paste your leadership, networking, study plan and career plan essays during setup. The panel chair asks from what they say, then follows up on your answers.
Voice only?
Yes, no camera. You practise saying it, which is the part that goes wrong. It does not grade body language. One voice stands in for the whole panel.
How fast can I start?
Setup takes about two minutes and needs no account. You choose a plan before your first interview.
How it works
Set up in about two minutes, then interview out loud and see your scores.
-
Add your four essays
Paste your leadership, networking, study plan and career plan essays, and upload your CV. All optional; setup takes about two minutes.
-
Interview out loud
Twenty minutes by default, or 10 or 15 for a short run. One panel chair asks, listens and follows up, at a clear, unhurried pace.
-
Get scored on four skills
Subject depth, presence, judgement and leadership, each scored, with your own words quoted back and feedback question by question.
-
Go again before the panel
Run it again on the essay you are least sure of, until the answer sounds like you.
The night before
The same evening, two ways.
Without rehearsing
- You know your four essays by heart. You’ve never been questioned on them.
- Your networking answer is a promise, not an example.
- You don’t know which of your courses you’d struggle to defend.
After practising out loud
- You’ve answered on every essay out loud, with a follow-up behind each one.
- Your networking answer names a relationship you built and what came of it.
- You can say why each of your courses fits, the last one included.

Voice only
Voice only: no camera and no video. One voice stands in for a panel of three. Your spoken answers are transcribed so they can be scored.
Your interviewer’s accent
Your interviewer speaks with a British accent. You can change it in Settings.
For the 2026–27 cycle Chevening plans to shortlist in mid-February 2027 and interview from March to April 2027.
Questions
What to know before you start practising.
Is the interviewer a real person?
English is not my first language. Will that count against me?
Can I use it from my home country?
Does it use my camera or record video?
How is it different from reading sample questions?
What does it cost?
What doesn’t it cover?
