Questions you’ll practise

Common phrasings of what this interview asks, and what each one tests. An AI panel chair works from your own application, so expect follow-ups on what you say.

  1. “Why should the panel choose you over the other finalists?”

Tests: a confident case you can evidence

  2. “What do you want to study, and why does it matter?”

Tests: clarity about your plan and its value

  3. “Tell us about yourself and why you applied for this award.”

Tests: a focused story linked to the award

  4. “Tell me about a time you led others.”

Tests: leadership with a real result

  5. “Where do you see yourself in ten years?”

    Tests: a credible long-term direction

  6. “Why this country, and why this institution?”

    Tests: research behind your choices

  7. “What is a current issue in your field, and where do you stand?”

    Tests: independent, informed opinion

  8. “How have you contributed to your community?”

Tests: service beyond your own goals

  9. “Tell me about a failure that changed your approach.”

    Tests: reflection and resilience

Practise these with real follow-ups

Setup takes about two minutes.

Know what to change before the real interview

See where your answer lost its point, what was missing and what to try next. Your own words, with feedback on each question and scores across four skills.

Confident, but the case arrived at the end.

In your words
“Well, I think I’ve always been someone who, um, wants to make a difference…”

Do this next time

Open with the one thing you’ve done that the other finalists haven’t, then the proof.

By question
  1. “Why should the panel choose you over the other finalists?”

Strong evidence, buried. Lead with it.

  2. “What do you want to study, and why does it matter?”

Clear plan. The “why it matters” needs a person or place it helps.

  3. “Tell me about a time you led others.”

Good result. Say what you did, not what the group did.

“I had plenty of achievements to mention. The feedback helped me choose one example and explain what it showed, instead of trying to fit in everything.”

One question, and what a strong answer does

An example of the kind of question you’ll be asked, and what the feedback looks for.

Illustrative example, not a real session
Panel chair

“What is the strongest argument against the plan you have described?”

Follow-up: “If that argument turned out to be right, what would you do instead?”

What a strong answer does

  • States the opposing argument fairly, in its strongest form.
  • Says what evidence would change your mind.
  • Answers the follow-up with a real alternative, not a restatement.
  • Stays calm and brief; panels test composure as much as content.

Before you ask

Is an AI good enough for a scholarship panel?

For the reps, yes. It asks, listens and follows up on what you actually said, up to two hours a day, at 2 a.m. or the night before. Then it scores four skills and quotes your own words back, so you know exactly which answer to fix.

Will it know my award?

Paste your essays and add the award’s own page during setup. The panel chair asks why this award from what the page says. It is built not to guess at facts the page doesn’t give.

Voice only?

Yes, no camera. You practise saying it, which is the part that goes wrong. It does not grade body language. One voice stands in for the whole panel.

How fast can I start?

Setup takes about two minutes and needs no account. You choose a plan before your first interview.

How it works

Set up in about two minutes, then interview out loud and see your scores.

  1. Add your essays and the award

Paste your personal statement or study plan, upload your CV and add the award’s page. All optional; setup takes about two minutes.

  2. Interview out loud

Twenty minutes by default, or 10 or 15 for a short run. One panel chair asks, listens and follows up on what you actually said.

  3. Get scored on four skills

Subject depth, presence, judgement and leadership, each scored, with your own words quoted back and feedback question by question.

  4. Go again before the panel

Run it again at a harder setting, or add another award’s page.

The night before

The same evening, two ways.

Without rehearsing

  • You’ve read your answers. You’ve never heard yourself say them.
  • The question you dread still starts with “So, um…”.
  • You don’t know which of your stories runs long.

After practising out loud

  • You’ve said each answer out loud, with a follow-up behind it.
  • The question you dread has a short, honest answer you’ve already given.
  • You know which story runs long, and you’ve cut it.

Good to know

20 minutes by default

A 20-minute mock interview, spoken out loud. Choose 10, 15 or 20 minutes. Real panels can run longer.

Voice only

Voice only: no camera and no video. One voice stands in for a panel of two or three. Your spoken answers are transcribed so they can be scored.

Your interviewer’s accent

Your interviewer speaks with a British accent. You can change it in Settings.

Questions

What to know before you start practising.

Is the interviewer a real person?
No. One AI panel chair asks the questions out loud, listens and follows up on what you said. It stands in for a panel of two or three.
Does it use my camera or record video?
No. It is voice only: no camera and no video. Your spoken answers are transcribed so they can be scored.
English is not my first language. Will that count against me?
Your answers are transcribed, and your feedback quotes what it heard, so you can check it. The scoring is set up not to mark down accent or grammar slips.
Which scholarships does it work for?
Graduate and professional scholarships and fellowships with a panel interview. There are dedicated pages for Chevening, Fulbright and Gates Cambridge, Knight-Hennessy and Schwarzman.
What does it cost?
$29.99 a month or $12.99 a week, in US dollars, wherever you are, with up to two hours of interviews a day. The weekly plan is for when your interview is just days away; from three weeks on, the monthly plan costs less. Cancel at any time in Settings, with no cancellation fee, and you keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
What doesn’t it cover?
Each session is one spoken interview with one AI interviewer. It does not cover several voices at once (one voice stands in for the panel), formats longer than 20 minutes, social events and receptions, essay writing or review, high-school or merit awards for under-18s or visa questions.
