Best HireVue practice tools: prepare your answers and setup

Prepare both parts of a recorded interview: what you will say and how you will record it. Use HireVue’s own practice flow for the setup, and choose a rehearsal tool to help you get your answers ready.

Choose for the way you want to practise

Start with the invitation rather than a generic timer. For recorded interviews, you need both familiarity with the recording setup and a clear answer. A separate practice tool can help with content, but it cannot tell you exactly how your employer has configured its interview.

HireVue’s own practice flow: check the format

Use the practice questions available with your on-demand invitation to learn the recording flow. Your employer’s instructions remain the place to check timing and attempts.

Phone recorder: a free starting point

A recorder you already have lets you practise without a subscription. Read a question, record your answer and listen for the main point, your action and the result. You will need to review the content yourself or ask someone for feedback.

Huru: video answer practice

Huru offers recorded video interview practice with feedback and job-description input. Consider it when reviewing how your answer comes across on camera is a priority. Huru now lists everything it offers job seekers as free.

Bossed: get the answer clear before you record it

A good camera setup cannot explain your experience for you. Bossed helps you work on the substance: spoken answers about your CV and the job, follow-up questions and feedback after the mock interview. Then use HireVue’s own practice flow to rehearse the recording format. Bossed provides spoken preparation, rather than a replica of HireVue.

Start with the free quiz and preparation plan. Spoken mock interviews require a paid plan.

What to check before you choose

  • Practice format: spoken conversation, recorded video or written answers.
  • Feedback: clear guidance you can use in your next attempt.
  • Price: included sessions, renewal terms and any minimum commitment.
  • Privacy: how the provider handles your recordings, transcripts and CV.
