A Google Interview Warmup alternative built around your next job

Google Interview Warmup is no longer available. If you used it to practise answering out loud, you can keep that habit for free, or move to a spoken mock interview built from your CV and the job you want, with follow-up questions and feedback.

What happened to Google Interview Warmup

Interview Warmup was a free Grow with Google tool. Google designed it for Career Certificates learners and opened it to everyone: you answered a question out loud, read the live transcription and saw insights such as the job-related terms you used and how long you spent on your experience, skills and goals.

It is no longer available. On 22 October 2026, both of its official addresses redirected to the Grow with Google home page. Other interview-prep sites report that Google retired it in April 2026; we could not find an announcement from Google. Links to it in careers-service guides now lead to a general page.

What it did well, and what it left out

Warmup's strength was the habit it built: one question at a time, answered aloud, then read back. That is worth keeping whatever you use next.

  • It asked set questions for each Career Certificate field, plus general ones, rather than questions built from your CV or the job you applied for.
  • Google described transcription and answer insights. It did not describe follow-up questions, so you practised a first answer but not the conversation after it.
  • Its insights counted terms and talking points; they were never an assessment of whether your answer would persuade an interviewer.

Alternatives, by what you used it for

Pick the replacement that matches the part of Warmup you relied on. Each option below has a full review on this site, with its current pricing and the official sources.

  • Free self-review: record yourself on your phone answering one question, then listen for the main point, your action and the result. It costs nothing and needs no account.
  • Free AI video practice: Huru now lists everything it offers job seekers as free, with unlimited mock interviews and an AI feedback report.
  • Free delivery feedback: Yoodli's Starter plan gives you five roleplay sessions in total to try its communication feedback.
  • Practice with a person: Pramp's peer mock interviews, now hosted on Aced Practice, are free within a monthly allowance.
  • A spoken mock built for your next job: Bossed turns your CV and the job description into a spoken interview with follow-up questions and feedback on four skills. The quiz and practice plan are free; spoken interviews are $29.99 a week or $49.99 a month.

Give your practice a specific job to aim for

Bossed connects spoken practice to your own experience and the role you want. You answer questions out loud, respond to follow-ups based on what you said and review feedback on technical skills, communication, problem solving and teamwork after the session. Start with the free quiz and preparation plan; spoken mock interviews are available with a paid plan.

Try it now

Practise one answer, then a follow-up

Tell me about a skill you recently improved.

  1. Jot down the main point, the example you will use and the result you want to explain.
  2. Record your answer out loud. Listen for anything a person unfamiliar with your work would struggle to follow.
  3. Answer again with that part made clearer. Then ask yourself: “Where have you used that skill, and what difference did it make?”

Put your answer to the test with Bossed. Rehearse out loud and get specific feedback with a paid plan. Build my interview prep plan → Your readiness quiz and prep plan are free.

Questions about your practice

Is Google Interview Warmup still available?
No. On 22 October 2026 both of its official addresses redirected to the Grow with Google home page. Other interview-prep sites report that Google retired it in April 2026; we could not find an announcement from Google.
Is there a free alternative to Google Interview Warmup?
Yes. Recording yourself on your phone costs nothing. Huru lists its job-seeker features as free, Yoodli's Starter plan includes five roleplay sessions, and Pramp's peer mocks on Aced Practice are free within a monthly allowance. Bossed's quiz and practice plan are free; its spoken mock interviews need a paid plan.
How is Bossed different from Interview Warmup?
Warmup asked set questions and showed a transcript with insights. Bossed builds the questions from your CV and the job description, asks follow-ups based on your answers and gives feedback on four interview skills after each session.
Should I memorise my answers?
Use a few notes to remember the example, then explain it in your own words. Practise answering a follow-up so you can adapt when the interviewer asks for more detail.

Be ready to explain what you can do.

Practise questions about your CV and the job with Bossed. Get feedback after each spoken mock, then put it to work in your next attempt.
