Questions you’ll practice

Common phrasings of what this interview asks, and what each one tests. An AI admissions interviewer works from your own application, so expect follow-ups on what you say.

  1. “What would you change about your current company, and why haven’t you?”

Tests: business judgment and ownership from inside

  2. “Walk me through your career so far.”

Tests: concise storytelling with clear reasons

  3. “Why did you choose your undergraduate major?”

Tests: the reasoning behind early decisions

  4. “Tell me about a decision you would make differently now.”

    Tests: reflection and honest ownership

  5. “What do you want to do after HBS?”

Tests: focused goals and why they matter

  6. “Tell me about a time you led without formal authority.”

    Tests: leadership and influence

  7. “What is something not on your resume that we should know?”

    Tests: range beyond your application

  8. “What is your biggest weakness as a manager?”

    Tests: self-awareness under quick follow-ups

  9. “Why an MBA now, rather than in three years?”

Tests: timing that is reasoned, not default

Know what to change before the real interview

See where your answer lost its point, what was missing and what to try next. Your own words, with feedback on each question and scores across four skills.

Judgment and self-awareness Skill 3 of 4
62 / 100

Honest about the decision. Defended it for too long before naming the trade-off.

In your words
“Well, it’s a good question, and I think there were a lot of factors, so…”
Turn 4 · 3:02
Do this next time

Answer “why” in your first sentence. Name what you gave up before you’re asked.

By question
  1. “What would you change about your current company, and why haven’t you?”

A sharp idea. The “why haven’t you” half went unanswered.

  2. “Walk me through your career so far.”

Tight and in order. Two minutes is right; keep it there.

  3. “Tell me about a decision you would make differently now.”

Real ownership. Lead with the decision, not the context.

“I was turning every answer into a long story. Practicing helped me answer the actual question first and leave room for the next one.”

One question, and what a strong answer does

An example of the kind of question you’ll be asked, and what the feedback looks for.

Illustrative example, not a real session
Admissions interviewer

“You moved from consulting to a startup after 18 months. Why then?”

Follow-up: “What did you give up, and was it worth it?”

What a strong answer does

  • Answers “why then” in the first sentence.
  • Names the trade-off plainly, without defending it at length.
  • Shows what the move taught you that the old job could not.
  • Stays brief, so the next question comes from your answer.

What a mock interview costs

A consultant-led mock is one good session. Bossed is for every repetition before and after it.

One mock interview with an mbaMission senior consultant: $950.

A month of Bossed interviews: $29.99.

Bossed
$29.99 a month or $12.99 a week, up to two hours of interviews a day
mbaMission mock interview

Format

Bossed
An AI interviewer, out loud: 10, 15 or 20 minutes at any hour, up to two hours a day
mbaMission mock interview
A mock interview and debrief with a consultant, typically about 45 minutes source

Built from

Bossed
Your resume and the school’s own MBA page
mbaMission mock interview
Your application and resume, and questions your target program has asked in recent interviews source

An mbaMission mock is with a senior consultant, who brings a person’s judgment of your program and a live debrief. Bossed is an AI and is not that. Use it for the reps, and a person for the final check if you can. Details for other services are as each publishes them on its own site, checked October 4, 2026.

Before you ask

Can it keep up the HBS pace?

Set difficulty to 4 or 5. The interviewer follows up fast on what you actually said, picks a line on your resume and asks why, before you settle.

Is an AI good enough?

For the reps, yes. It asks, listens and follows up on what you actually said, up to two hours a day, at 2 a.m. or the night before. Then it scores four skills and quotes your own words back, so you know exactly which answer to fix.

Voice only?

Yes, no camera. You practice saying it, which is the part that goes wrong. It does not grade body language.

How fast can I start?

Setup takes about two minutes and needs no account. You choose a plan before your first interview.

How it works

Set up in about two minutes, then interview out loud and see your scores.

  1. Add your resume and HBS

Upload your resume, then paste the HBS MBA page. Both are optional, and setup takes about two minutes.

  2. Turn up the pace

Pick 15 or 20 minutes and set difficulty to 4 or 5 for the fast, probing style. The interviewer follows up on what you actually said.

  3. Get scored on four skills

Track record and goals, communication and presence, judgment and self-awareness, leadership and teamwork, with feedback question by question.

  4. Go again, faster

Run it again on a different part of your resume until no line surprises you.

The night before

The same evening, two ways.

Without rehearsing

  • You know your resume. You’ve never been asked “why?” about every line of it.
  • Your answer to “why did you leave?” starts with the context, not the reason.
  • You’ve never felt how fast thirty minutes goes.

After practicing out loud

  • You’ve been asked “why?” about the lines you were hoping to skip.
  • Your reasons come first, and the trade-offs come before anyone asks.
  • The pace feels normal, because you’ve run it before.

Good to know

15 minutes by default

Choose 10, 15 or 20 minutes; 15 is preselected. The real HBS interview runs 30 minutes, so run two sessions back to back for the full stretch.

Voice only

Voice only: no camera and no video, so nothing to set up and nothing on film. Your spoken answers are transcribed so they can be scored.

Your interviewer’s accent

Your interviewer speaks with an American accent. You can change it in Settings.

Practice before your invitation arrives, so the pace is familiar on the day.

Questions

What to know before you start practicing.

Is the interviewer a real person?
No. One AI admissions interviewer asks the questions out loud, listens and follows up on what you said. Set difficulty to 4 or 5 for the fast, probing pace.
Does it use my camera or record video?
No. It is voice only: no camera and no video. Your spoken answers are transcribed so they can be scored.
Does it know HBS?
Paste the HBS MBA page during setup and the interviewer uses what the page says. The questions themselves come from your resume, which is what a resume-led interview is about. It is built not to guess at facts the page doesn’t give.
Does it cover the post-interview reflection?
No. The written reflection HBS asks for within 24 hours of the interview is not part of a Bossed session. Your scores and question-by-question feedback are a good place to start it from, though.
What does it cost?
$29.99 a month or $12.99 a week, in US dollars, with up to two hours of interviews a day. The weekly plan is for when your interview is just days away; from three weeks on, the monthly plan costs less. Cancel anytime in Settings, with no cancellation fee, and you keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
What doesn’t it cover?
Each session is one spoken interview with one AI interviewer. It does not cover the post-interview written reflection, the full 30 minutes in one session (a session is 10, 15 or 20), the Wharton team-based discussion, essay or GMAT review or case interviews.
