Questions you’ll practise

Common phrasings of what this interview asks, and what each one tests. An AI program director works from your own application, so expect follow-ups on what you say.

  1. “Walk me through the part of your file you’d rather not discuss.”

Tests: a setback explained briefly and calmly

  2. “What would you do if a colleague seemed impaired at work?”

    Tests: professionalism and patient safety

  3. “Why this discipline?”

Tests: motivation grounded in real clinical moments

  4. “Why our program, and how do you feel about living here?”

Tests: fit with the program and the city

  5. “Tell me about a time you worked with an interprofessional team.”

Tests: the Collaborator role, with an example

  6. “Tell me about a time you received difficult feedback.”

Tests: openness to learning and change

  7. “Tell me about a mistake and how you handled it.”

    Tests: ownership and disclosure

  8. “How will you look after your own wellness during residency?”

    Tests: self-awareness and sustainable habits

  9. “Where do you see yourself in ten years?”

Tests: a realistic career plan in Canada

Judgement, ethics and professionalism Skill 3 of 4
63 / 100

Safe instinct, but you never said who you would call.

In your words
“I would probably, um, talk to them first and see if they were okay, and then maybe…”
Turn 2 · 1:31
Do this next time

Put patient safety first in one sentence, then name exactly who you would escalate to and when.

By question
  1. “Walk me through the part of your file you’d rather not discuss.”

Brief and honest. End on what you do differently now.

  2. “What would you do if a colleague seemed impaired at work?”

Kind to the colleague, vague on escalation. Name the person.

  3. “Why our program, and how do you feel about living here?”

A real reason for the program. Say something true about the city too.

Testimonial
“The difficult team situation was the answer I kept putting off. It helped to practise taking responsibility without making the whole story sound negative.”
CaRMS applicant

One question, and what a strong answer does

An example of the kind of question you’ll be asked, and what the feedback looks for.

Illustrative example, not a real session
Program director

“Tell me about a time you had to advocate for a patient when the team disagreed.”

Follow-up: “Looking back, would you handle it the same way?”

What a strong answer does

  • Sets up one specific situation in a sentence or two, with no patient identifiers.
  • Shows how the concern was raised respectfully, and with whom.
  • Keeps the patient at the centre and names when it would have gone further up.
  • Reflects honestly on what would change next time.

Before you ask

I’m an IMG. Is it for me?

Yes. It reads your CV, so it asks about your own training, your Canadian experience and any gap, then follows up on what you say.

Is an AI good enough?

For the reps, yes. It asks, listens and follows up on what you actually said, up to two hours a day, at 2 a.m. or the night before. Then it scores four skills and quotes your own words back, so you know exactly which answer to fix.

Will it know my discipline and my program?

Upload your CV and paste the program’s page. It asks why there, from what the page says. It is built not to guess at facts the page doesn’t give.

How fast can I start?

Setup takes about two minutes and needs no account. You choose a plan before your first interview.

How it works

Set up in about two minutes, then interview out loud and see your scores.

  1. Add your CV and the program

Upload your CV or paste your personal letter, then paste the program’s page. No account needed, and setup takes about two minutes.

  2. Interview out loud

Pick 10, 15 or 20 minutes. One AI program director with a Canadian accent asks, listens and follows up on what you said.

  3. Get scored on four skills

Clinical reasoning, communication, judgement and teamwork, each scored, with your own words quoted back and a note on every question.

  4. Go again before the next program

Swap in the next program’s page and practise the questions that interview will bring.

The night before

The same evening, two ways.

Without rehearsing

  • You’ve read your answers. You’ve never heard yourself say them.
  • The hard part of your file still takes a paragraph to explain.
  • Your “why here” could be about any program in the country.

After practising out loud

  • You’ve said every answer out loud, with a follow-up behind it.
  • The hard part of your file is two calm sentences and what changed.
  • Your “why here” names the program and the city.

Good to know

15 minutes by default

Choose 10, 15 or 20 minutes. Each session is one program interview.

Voice only

Voice only: no camera and no video. Your spoken answers are transcribed so they can be scored on what you say.

Your interviewer’s accent

Your interviewer speaks with a Canadian accent. You can change it in Settings.

Programs are to complete initial interview offer updates by 12 January 2027. Start practising before then, so the hard parts of your file are already answered.

Questions

What to know before you start practising.

Is the interviewer a real person?
No. One AI program director asks the questions out loud, listens to your answer and follows up on what you said, the way a faculty interviewer would.
Does it use my camera or record video?
No. It is voice only: no camera and no video, so it does not grade body language. Your spoken answers are transcribed so they can be scored.
Can I practise for a specific program?
Yes. Paste the program’s own page during setup and the interviewer asks why that program, from what the page says. It is built not to guess at facts the page doesn’t give.
Is it for IMGs too?
Yes. The interviewer reads your CV, so it asks about your own training, your Canadian experience and any gaps. CaRMS says IMG interviews are coordinated separately, so practise before yours, whenever it falls.
How long is a session, and what does it cost?
You choose 10, 15 or 20 minutes; 15 is preselected. $12.99 a week or $29.99 a month, in US dollars, with up to two hours of interviews a day on either. You can cancel at any time in Settings.
What doesn’t it cover?
Each session is one spoken interview with one AI interviewer. It does not cover a full interview day (each session is one program interview), French-language interviews, Quebec programs, MMI circuits or exam content or visa questions.

Updated on

Programs complete initial interview offers by 12 January 2027. Have the hard answers said by then.
