See where your answer lost its point, what was missing and what to try next. Your own words, with feedback on each question and scores across four skills.
Honest about the change, but it sounded like leaving, not choosing.
“Honestly, I just couldn’t face another year of the same shifts, so…”
Lead with what you are moving towards, then name one thing from your old job this role needs.
-
“How will you feel taking instructions from a supervisor younger than you?”
Calm and believable. One example of learning from someone junior would land it.
-
“Why are you changing careers now?”
A real reason, but it arrived late. Say the decision first.
-
“How will you manage on an apprentice’s wage?”
Direct. The follow-up found no plan behind it: say how, not just that you will.
Illustrative example. Your scores will differ.
“The question about being supervised by someone younger caught me off guard. I was glad my first attempt at answering it was in practice.”
One question, and what a strong answer does
An example of the kind of question you’ll be asked, and what the feedback looks for.
“You have had a whole career already. Why start again as an apprentice?”
Follow-up: “What will you find hardest about being the new person again?”
What a strong answer does
- Names the moment the decision was made, in a sentence, without running down the old job.
- Connects two or three things from past work directly to this role.
- Shows the training has been researched: the qualification, the study days, the timescale.
- Answers the follow-up honestly, with a plan for the hard part.

Before you ask
I haven’t interviewed in years. Is this for me?
Yes. Most people changing career haven’t. Five minutes out loud, as often as you like, is the quickest way to get the words flowing again, and nobody is watching: it is voice only.
Is an AI good enough?
For the reps, yes. It asks, listens and follows up on what you actually said, as many times as you want, at 2 a.m. or the night before. Then it scores four skills and quotes your own words back, so you know exactly which answer to fix.
Will it know the employer?
Paste the listing and add the employer’s own website. The interviewer asks why there from what the company says about itself. It is built not to guess at facts the employer’s site doesn’t give.
How fast can I start?
Setup takes about two minutes and needs no account. You choose a plan before your first interview.
How it works
Set up in about two minutes, then interview out loud and see your scores.
-
Add your CV and the apprenticeship
Upload your CV, then paste the listing link or its description. Add the employer’s website if you have it. Setup takes about two minutes.
-
Interview out loud
One AI hiring manager asks, listens and follows up on what you actually said.
-
Get scored on four skills
Technical, communication, problem solving and teamwork, each scored, with your own words quoted back and feedback question by question.
-
Follow a plan to the day
Set your interview date and Bossed builds a daily practice plan up to it, aimed at your weakest skill.
The night before
The same evening, two ways.
Without rehearsing
- You know why you’re changing career. You’ve never said it to a stranger.
- “How will you manage on the wage?” still gets a nervous laugh.
- Your last job interview was so long ago you can’t remember how it felt.
After practising out loud
- Your reason for changing sounds like a decision, not an escape.
- The wage question has a calm answer with a plan behind it.
- You’ve heard yourself link your old job to this one, and it sounded like you.
Good to know
